Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton

On-call 24/7, helping those in-need.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton is a volunteer search and rescue charity, affiliated to Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW), who find the lost, missing injured and vulnerable, not just on Dartmoor but across Devon and to major incidents nationally.

Called out by the Police, ambulance and fire service, the team responds to 30 - 40 incidents a year both on land and in the water. Whether its an injured walker or kayaker, a flood incident, a lost child, or missing person such as somebody with dementia or an individual intent on taking their own life, we will respond 24/7 to help those in need.

Professionally trained in all areas of search and rescue such as search management, advanced casualty care, swift water rescue, and steep ground rope rescue and access, the team trains weekly adopting the latest good practice and techniques.

With next to no statutory Government funding , the charity relies on public and business donations for over 92% of its income and purchases and maintains its own equipment, vehicles and medical supplies and drugs.

We are recruiting team supporters to join our supporters club dart2ZERO. All the fun but without the training and callout commitments. If you have some spare time and would like to get involved we’d love to hear from you
