Below is the text of the letter sent to all those who supplied an SAE last year for despatch of the form for 2018

January 2018
The Main Charities we are supporting are: Dream-a-Way; Dartmoor Rescue & Search Team, Ashburton; The Baton plus many others via The Giving Machine.

Dear Exhibitor,

Our 45th Historic Vehicle Gathering will be held at the usual venue in the magnificent grounds of Powderham Castle, Kenton, Nr. Exeter on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July 2018.

Our 2017 Rally was hugely successful, and we again exceeded our expectations and saw a significant rise in visitors to the event over the 2 days, attracting people from far and wide.  We donated £20,000 to various charities.

We invite exhibitors to attend in period dress relating to the age of their vehicle. Judging in all classes takes place on Saturday with the Awards presented on Sunday.  There will again be live music on Friday and Saturday nights.  There will also be local bands playing during the day on Saturday and Sunday. For dog lovers we have organised a light hearted fun dog show.

Whether you have been to the rally before or it will be your first visit, we are confident that you will enjoy the wonderful atmosphere, fun and games. Exhibitors to include Veteran, Vintage and Classic Cars; Motorcycles; Classic Commercials; Full size and Miniature Steam Engines; Military Vehicles; Classic Car Club stands; Trade, Auto jumble and Craft Stalls; Children’s Entertainment; Refreshments and delicious food outlets. There really is something for everyone.

Please keep an eye on the website for regular updates at and spread the word to work colleagues, family and friends.

All exhibitors are provided with coloured wrist bands (maximum of two per vehicle) which are to be worn before you enter the Rally Field and at all times over the weekend

Lastly please bear in mind this entire event is only possible because of the small army of club members and friends who freely give their time to ensure a successful and enjoyable show for all.   Please Note: The exit gates will be opened at 4.30 on both days. We would suggest that you might delay your departure to avoid the inevitable congestion, as over 2000 vehicles leave the rally field and public car park.

Thank you for your support.  Safe motoring and we look forward to you joining us at the event!

With regards from

 The 2018 Rally Committee
